Sin the Smiley Silver Store Owner

As they shopped for more souvenirs Daled Daddy spotted a beautiful Chanuka menorah in the window of a silver store. Daled Daddy explained to the children that when it comes to do doing a Mitzvah we try to do it in the most beautiful way. When we spend money on things that are used to perform a Mitzvah, we show that G-d’s Mitzvot are precious and dear to us. Sin the Smiley Silver Store owner greeted the Alef-Bet family with a smile. It’s a Mitzvah to be happy and to greet every person with a smile.

Simcha, joy is the spice of every Mitzvah. G-d wants us to serve Him with Simcha and therefore we do every Mitzvah happily, with a big smile on our face!

The children saw that she was polishing a beautiful silver crown. She asked the children if they could guess what the silver crown would be used for. She even gave them a hint by saying that it would be used to adorn a very holy and precious object. It didn’t take long for the children to guess that the beautiful crown would be used for a new Torah!

Sin the Smiley Silver Store owner told the Alef-Bet family that there was going to be a big celebration because a Torah scroll was going to be completed that evening. She said that all the people will sing and dance with the Torah as they bring it to its new home in the Kibbutz synagogue.

Writing a Sefer Torah or participating in writing one, (by purchasing a letter in a Torah) is a big Mitzvah and when the Torah is completed after many months of hard work by a special scribe it’s definitely a joyous occasion!
